Our History
Over the decades, our firm has undergone several evolutions. In 1991, Don Buchanan left to become a Provincial Court Judge, and the firm eventually transitioned to Rackel & Company LLP. Despite these name changes the firm’s long-term client relationships and trusted advisory roles have remained central. Today, we are proud to represent many of Don and Bernie’s original clients and their families, often working with the third generation of these loyal clients.
Our legacy includes participating in landmark legal cases, such as a Supreme Court of Canada decision R. v. Lavallee, Rackel & Heintz, 1997 CanLII 14749 (AB KB) on solicitor-client privilege. This reflects our commitment to excellence and our ability to “Punch above our weight” as a small but influential firm.
