BIOGRAPHY
Matt is a highly skilled civil litigator with over 20 years of creative problem-solving experience. Clients turn to Matt when facing disputes, relying on his ability to simplify complex legal issues and provide clear, actionable advice. This empowers them to make informed decisions and navigate conflicts practically. His practice encompasses all areas of civil litigation, with a heavy focus on commercial and construction matters. After receiving his Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta in 2000, Matt earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004 and was called to the Alberta Bar the following year. He has since gained comprehensive experience representing clients before all levels of court in Alberta.
Matt is accomplished in resolving disputes involving builders’ liens, contracts, negligence, professional and product liability, and shareholder conflicts. As a seasoned courtroom advocate and trial lawyer, his knowledge and attention to detail have led to nearly 70 important reported decisions, solidifying his reputation in the legal community. Outside his professional activities, Matt enjoys mountain biking and skiing with his wife and their four children. He is deeply involved in his community, having volunteered for 20 years at the Edmonton Community Legal Centre, providing legal information and advice to the economically disadvantaged. He has served on the boards of registered charitable organizations, regularly volunteers at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, and, alongside his wife, presents in marriage preparation programs within the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton.
